The BoJ policy board voted 8-1 to keep its short-term policy rate unchanged at 0.25%, as financial markets had expected. Policy board member Tamura voted to raise rates to 0.50%. Governor Ueda said real interest rates remained very low but also acknowledged fresh risks to the outlook from Trump's proposed trade policies. Ueda said "If the economy and prices move in line with our forecast, we will continue to raise our policy rate." The BoJ also released a 212 page Review of Monetary Policy from a Broad Perspective.
