The CFLP emerging industries PMI fell back into contractionary territory at 47.9 in June compared to 51 in May, consistent with recent weakness in the manufacturing and service PMIs following April’s US tariff shock.
Japan
The Tokyo area CPI moderated to 3.2% y/y in June compared to 3.5% y/y in May, pointing to further moderation in the less timely national CPI. The divergence between the two series has narrowed recently. The BoJ remains concerned about core inflation (which includes soaring rice prices), but will also be mindful of the effects of US tariff policy on export demand.
