The NBS PMIs improved marginally in June at a headline level. The manufacturing PMI rose to 49.7 from 49.5 in May, while the non-manufacturing PMI rose to 50.5 from 50.3. This left the composite measure at 50.7 compared to 50.4 in May. The expectations measures for both sectors weakened however. The NBS PMIs point to an economy that is only narrowly expansionary.
